Heavy Rescue Company #1
Founded 1939 Re-Organized 1995

Heavy Rescue Co. #1 was originally formed in 1930 as Fire Patrol Company #1. At the time the company was made up of mostly older members of the department who's primary function was to patrol the town looking for fires and to provide vehicular and pedestrian traffic control at the scene of emergencies. Fire Patrol Company which became known simply as Patrol Company #1 was the first and only company to date to have a female Captain. Mildred......... served as company Lieutenant from (date to date) and then as company Captain from (date to date).
As time passed the membership of the company took on a younger look and so the scope of the company changed. In February 1995, with the addition of a new Mack Pierce heavy rescue truck, Patrol Company was reorganized and officially renamed Heavy Rescue Company #1. Today the company responds to all alarms with its capabilities varying from vehicle extrication, team search or ice rescue. Unit 3-5-7 is fully equipped with the latest Hurst Rescue Equipment including the Jaws of Life, a compliment of Rescue Air Bags, and four Ice Rescue Dry Suits. We also operate and maintain the department Stump Jumper, 3-5-11, which has seen action in numerous large brush fires including the 1995 Westhampton and Rocky Point Wildfires. The members of Heavy Rescue Co. # 1 take great pride in providing support to our brother Firefighters as well as the residents of our community.
