| East Islip Tech Center January 10, 2010 | |||
| On January 10, 2010 at approximately 1715 hours we were activated for an open burn in the vicinity of the old Grumman Property. 1St Assistant Chief Plotinio was first on scene and reported a fully involved vacant structure to the rear of the main buildings. Under command of Chief of Deparment Garroway the brand new tower ladder 3-5-5 was put into operation to extinguish the bulk of the fire. Mutual aide was provided by Islip Terrace, Islip and Exchange Ambulance. All units were back in service by approximately 2000 hours. | ||
| Washington St November 23, 2008 | |||
| On November 23, 2008 at 1133 hours we were activated for a signal 12 at the end of Washington St. Upon arrival Chief Slack found a large area of dense leaves burning. 3-5-11 was directed into the woods while the crew from 3-5-4 used hand tools to try to loosen the brush. | East Islip Marina March 31, 2008 | |||
| On March 31, 2008 at approximately 0901 hours we were activated for a Signal 23 car into the water at the East Islip Marina. Arriving Chiefs Garraway and Plotino found a partially submerged vehicle in the vicinity of the boat ramp. Under command of 1st Assistant Chief Garraway the crew from 3-5-7 entered the water to search for victims while 3-5-9 provided a saw to cut an access hole in the trunk. No victims were found and the scene was turned over to the Suffolk County Police Department for further investigation. | Union Blvd X Connetquot Ave July 20, 2007 | |||
| On July 20, 2007 at approximately 1315 hours we were activated for a Signal 23 MVA vehicle vs bicycle on the corner of Union Blvd and Connetquot Ave. Under direction of Chief Slack the the crew from 3-5-6 the male bicyclist was immobilized and transported to Southside Hospital for treatment of his injuries. | Hecksher Parkway June 7, 2007 | |||
| On June 7. 2007 at approximately 1100 hours we were activated for a Signal 23 MVA reported overturn with a signal 14 southbound on the Hecksher Parkway south of Montauk Highway. Upon arrival 1st Assistant Chief Garraway confirmed the overturned vehicle was on fire but the driver was out of the vehicle. The overturned vehicle had rear ended a minivan and then overturned, left the roadway and struck a tree upside down. The crew from 3-5-3 extinguished the fire and secured the vehicle while Drs Torelli and Walsh treated the male driver who was tranported to Southside Hospital. | Sunrise Highway X Irish Lane June 3, 2007 | |||
| On June 3. 2007 at approximately 1315 hours we were activated for a Signal 23 MVA reported overturn. Upon arrival 1st Assistant Chief Garraway advised the driver was trapped in the vehicle. The driver was extricated through the rear window and transported by Suffolk County Police Helicopter to Stony Brook Hospital for treatment. | Compactor Fire May 26, 2007 | |||
| On May 26. 2007 at approximately 1753 hours we were activated for a Signal 23 dumpster fire at CVS on West Main St. Upon arrival Chief Slack reported the fire was in a compactor attached to the building. Suffolk County Police ESU assisted at by dragging the compactor away from the building to allow for access to the burning contents. | 42 Jefferson St April 16, 2007 | |||
| On April 16, 2007 at approximately 1300 hours we were activated for a Signal 13 reported basement fire at 42 Jefferson St. First on scene was 2nd Asst Chief Plotino who reported a working fire. 3-5-1 was first due and stretched two handlines to the basement garage area, while the crew from 3-5-5 began ventilating the building. Mutual Aide was provided by Islip Terrace with an Engine and Ladder and Islip with an Engine to the scene. A signal 4 was transmitted at approximately 1400 hrs. | Sunrise Highway MVA April 2, 2007 | |||
| On April 2, 2007 at approximately 2021 hours we were activated for heavy rescue at the scene of a motor vehicle accident reported overturn on Sunrise Highway East of Connetquot Ave. First on scene, 2nd Assistant Chief Plotino confirmed an overturned SUV with the driver already out of the vehicle. | Bayview Ave April 11, 2006 | |||
| This alarm was received on April 11, 2006 at approximately 1243 hours in the vicinity of the East Islip Marina on the west side of Bayview Ave. Assistant Chief Garraway was in charge and the fire was extinguished in just under an hour using 2 engines and the brush truck. All units were 28 by 1407 hours. | ||
| 65 West Main Street April 3, 2006 | |||
| This alarm was received on April 3, 2006 at approximately 2018 hours. First arriving Chief Nieves, reported a working fire with heavy smoke showing. First due engine 3-5-4 made entry on the exposure 4 side and was met with a heavy fire load in the rear of the building. An aggressive interior attack was started but due to the fire load in the building Chief Nieves ordered all personnel out and a Tower Ladder operation was commenced. Mutual Aide was provided by Islip, Bay Shore, and West Sayville Fire Departments to the scene. Islip Exchange Ambulance provided medical assistance at the scene, and Great River Fire Department stood by at East Islip Headquarters. All units were 28 by 2300. | This alarm was received on November 7, 2004 at approximately 2231 hours. First arriving, Chief Slack, reported a working fire with heavy fire showing on the exposure 1-2 sides. First due engine 3-5-4 stretched 1 hand line and conducted a primary search. An extremely heavy smoke condition resulted in zero visibility with smoked banked down to the floor. Mutual Aide was provided by Islip Terrace Fire Department and Islip Fire Department. Islip Exchange Ambulance provided medical assistance at the scene. All units were 28 by 0019. | ||

| This fire occurred on Carleton Ave south of Union Blvd on January 21, 2004 at approximately 2130 hours. First arriving Chief Nieves was met with an extremely heavy smoke condition with near zero visibility. The fire resulted in extensive damage to all three stores in the complex as well as the attached residence. Percy Williams Drive December 2, 2003 | |||
| This fire occurred on December 2, 2003 at approximately 2313 hours. First arriving Chief O'Brien was met with a heavy fire load on the exposure 4 side with an involved auto in the driveway. First Due Engine 3-5-1 stretched two hand lines and conducted a search of the structure. Mutual Aide was provided by Islip Fire Department. The fire was extinguished in approximately 45 minutes and resulted in heavy damage to the home. | ||
| East Main Street X Connetquot Ave | |||
| This motor vehicle accident occurred on the corner of Connetquot Ave and Montauk Highway. The vehicle shown was traveling east on Montauk Highway when it collided with a vehicle traveling north on Great River Road. The collision caused this vehicle to spin sideways and overturn. Despite the impact and the passenger door opening during the flip, the two female occupants suffered only minor injuries. All victims were removed to Southside Hospital for treatment. | Division Ave February 28, 2002 | |||
| This alarm was received on February 28, 2002 at approximately 1345 hours. Arriving units found a fully involved detached garage in the rear yard. There were several small compressed gas canisters as well as paint cans that added to the fire. | On September 11, 2001 East Islip Firefighters provided mutual aide to the New York Police and Fire Departments at the scene of the World Trade Center collapse. Heavy Rescue unit 3-5-7 is shown with its 6000 watt light tower aiding in the search for victims trapped in the debris. | ||
| East Main Street September 25, 2000 | |||
| On September 25, 2000 at 2247 hours we were alerted by a passerby of a car fire on Main Street and Pauchogue Ave. While en route Chief Dunn was informed that the fire was actually a gasoline tanker carrying 4800 gallons of gas that had been struck by a minivan and exploded. First arriving firefighters were met with a fully involved tanker with flames reaching 200 feet into the sky. Mutual aide was provided by the Islip, Islip Terrace, Central Islip, West Sayville, West Islip, Bay Shore, Brentwood, Holbrook, Sayville, Great River, and Bohemia Fire Departments as well as Islip and Gabreski Airport Crash Fire Rescue Units. Islip Exchange Ambulance setup an EMS staging area with the assistance of several neighboring corps. The fire was finally extinguished at 0215 hours. Due to the heroic efforts of all involved the fire resulted in only one fatality, the 62 year old female driver of the minivan. | ||
| Shinnecock Lane January 00, 2000 | |||
| On January 00, 2000 at approximately 1900 hours we were activated for a Signal 13 on Shinnecock Lane. First arriving Chief Dunn found this fully involved single story wood frame house and immediately transmitted a signal 35. The first due engine was 3-5-3 which quickly established a water supply and stretched two hand lines. The extremely cold temperatures made this job even more difficult by forcing firefighters to deal with frozen hoses and equipment. The fire was brought under control in approximately 45 minutes and resulted in heavy damage to the structure. | ||

| This alarm was received on April 15, 1999 just four hours after the fire shown below. It was the third working fire in as many nights in East Islip. Multiple calls were received reporting fire through the roof. First arriving Chief Dunn quickly discovered it was not the house on fire but instead a large utility shed in the rear yard. The fire was quickly extinguished without incident. | ||
| West Main Street April 15, 1999 | |||
| This arson fire, which occurred April 15, 1999, was just one of several at this vacant dwelling on the corner of West Main Street and Irish Lane. This fire was fought with an exterior attack under the direction of Chief Dunn. The building which was vacant for many years was eventually demolished by the town soon after this fire. | ||
| Pequot Lane April 14, 1999 | |||
| This alarm was received at approximately 2200 hours April 14, 1999. First arriving Chief Dunn was informed that one resident of the home was unaccounted for and was possibly still inside. As the first due engine stretched a line to the front door the can and irons team from the truck immediately began their search for victims. Fortunately, the search for victims was negative. What firefighters did find was two totally separate apartments in this apparent single family dwelling. | ||
| Gwendolynn Place December 25, 1998 | |||
| This alarm was received at 0530 hours on December 25, 1998 on the corner of Gwendolyn Place and Quintuck Lane. Arriving units were met with a heavy fire load that had already vented itself through the roof. The fire had originated in the chimney and quickly spread throughout the attic area. Mutual aide was provided by Islip Fire Department with one engine to the scene and Islip Exchange Ambulance stood by with additional ambulance crews. All units were 28 at 0830 hours. | ||
| West Main Street February 1996 | |||
| This fire occurred early one morning in February 1996 on West Main Street and Second Ave. Arriving firefighters were met with a heavy fire load on the first floor. As entry was made into the building it was quickly discovered that the fire had started in the basement of this multi story building. The fire was quickly extinguished and damage was limited to the fire building. | ||
| Westhampton Wildfires August - September 1995 | |||
| August 1995 proved to be one of the worst brush fire seasons in recent history. Wildfires swept across the east end of Suffolk County consuming thousands of acres of Dwarf Pines. Firefighters from Suffolk, Nassau and New York City combined efforts to control and eventually extinguish the massive fires. This picture was taken by Ex Chief Ed Busch from atop East Islip stump jumper 3-5-11 as the wall of fire jumped Sunrise Highway from north to south. The fires raged for eight days and resulted in the largest combined firefight in Long Island's history. | ||

| This alarm was received in the late evening of February 18, 1993. Arriving firefighters found the fire had already vented itself through the rear of the residence. The home suffered extensive damage due to the heavy fire load. | ||

| This fire occurred on September 25, 1992 on West Main Street next to St Mary's Church. The fire apparently started in the yogurt shop and quickly spread to the adjoining businesses causing extensive damage to the building. | ||

| This fire occurred on the evening of December 16, 1991. The fire started in the first floor bathroom and quickly spread through the wall, causing extensive damage to the second floor and attic area. | ||
